What Lexington homeowners ask us
How much does hardwood floor refinishing cost in Lexington, KY?
Every floor is different, so we quote by the job rather than a flat rate. Cost depends on square footage, the condition of the existing finish, whether stain is involved, and how many coats of polyurethane the floor needs. We provide free written estimates — call (859) 268-8048 and we will come out and take a look.
How long does refinishing take?
A typical refinishing job runs three to five days from first sanding to final coat, depending on the size of the floor, the stain colour, and drying time between coats. Water based polyurethane dries faster than oil based. We will give you a realistic schedule with your estimate.
Is sanding messy?
We use 99% dust free sanding equipment, which captures the overwhelming majority of the dust at the source instead of letting it settle through your house. It is not a substitute for covering doorways, but it is a dramatic improvement over traditional sanding.
Can you match the stain on my existing floors?
Yes. Matching stains to existing floors is one of our regular services. We test stain samples on your actual wood before committing, because the same stain reads differently on red oak, white oak, maple and walnut.
Can hardwood floors be repaired instead of replaced?
In most cases, yes. Pet stains, water damage and deep gouges can usually be cut out and replaced board by board, then sanded and blended so the repair disappears. On most projects we can make the repair and finish it in a single day, depending on how many coats are needed.
Do you install new hardwood over a concrete slab?
Solid hardwood needs a suitable subfloor and a controlled moisture level. We test moisture before quoting any installation and will tell you honestly if a floor is not a good candidate. Sub-floor preparation and moisture barriers are part of what we do.
